Half-Life Science and Industry Mod for Half-Life
Half-Life Science and Industry
Science and Industry is a team-based multiplayer modification for the video game Half-Life. As one of the oldest and most iconic mods for Half-Life, it has achieved classic status among fans of the game. The latest version, 1.4 beta 14, was released on January 19, 2019, with the mod’s initial public release dating back to July 31, 1999, as version 0.94.
In this mod, players assume the role of security officers for one of two rival corporations, battling for supremacy in the competitive fields of chemical and weapons research and development.
Gameplay Overview
As a security officer, your primary mission is to acquire and protect your company’s most valuable assets: scientists. These scientists conduct critical research, develop new technologies, and generate profits for your corporation. Their productivity directly contributes to the development of advanced weapons and gadgets, which players can use to gain an advantage over the opposing team.
While your company employs its own team of scientists, success often depends on "acquiring" additional scientists from rival corporations. Stealing scientists not only increases your team’s research output but also hinders your opponents. Conversely, defending your own scientists from enemy raids is crucial to maintaining your company’s technological edge. Keeping battles away from your scientists ensures their uninterrupted productivity, allowing your company to stay ahead in the arms race.
Features

- Science and Industry V1.4 Beta 14: Windows and Linux versions of Science and Industry.

About Science and Industry
Science and Industry offers a creative twist on traditional Capture The Flag (CTF) gameplay. Instead of capturing flags, teams capture scientists. These scientists generate income for their respective corporations, and the team with the highest profit at the end of the game wins.
Each team begins with three scientists and must secure additional ones while defending their own. Maps may include alternative objectives, such as sabotaging equipment or stealing research materials, but the primary focus remains on capturing and protecting scientists. The income generated by scientists funds research into new technologies, which players can vote on during the game. These technologies lead to powerful weapons, advanced gadgets, and significant player upgrades, such as increased speed, durability, and even flight capabilities.
Science and Industry combines teamwork, strategy, and innovation into a unique and engaging multiplayer experience, solidifying its place as one of Half-Life’s most memorable mods.
